The 1st Manila SKA Festival

It was a time when the local Ska and Reggae scene was burgeoning with great music, Ska and reggae gigs were on almost every week, and the scene's veteran guards were playing together with young talents while new bands were bolstering the ranks.  

Holding one night that would put together these bands was the stage that the 1st Manila Ska Festival hoped to achieve. The July 25, 2009 festival was PiliSkapinas' first major production, and it was such a hit that plans to make it a truly annual event were laid as the 1st Manila Ska Festival was closed. In 2010, the 2nd Manila Ska Festival materialized on a September 4 night. That year, with new bands continuing to come out, the festival became a bigger event than its predecessor, and Ska hotspots were better represented at Cubao X. All the performers dished out great performances, and The 2nd Manila Ska Festival was a resounding success that probably defined the strength of Ska music's following in the Philippines.  (do you want to look back at PiliSkapinas' review and photos of the 2nd Manila Ska Festival? click here)

And after a year in absentia, the Manila Ska Festival returns on a bigger stage this December 08, 2012. The 3rd Manila SKA Festival will be part of the Philippine Ska Festival that will also hold events in Cebu and Mandaue City. for more details you can check the PiliSkapinas blog.
